To check the software versions installed on your AFS display, go to Home > Diagnostics > Version.
You can check the versions installed on any CAN device by going to Home > Diagnostics > CAN and finding the device in the list.

What do I need to connect a Raven controller to my AFS Display?

Please contact your dealer to ensure that the appropriate software is loaded to your AFS display. Additional cabling required is required. The power/data cable (P/N 87732647) is available from your Case IH dealer. A Raven null modem cable will need to be sourced from Raven. If you are using a 100 series Raven controller (440, 460, etc), use Raven null modem P/N 115-0159-822. If you are using a 1000 series Raven controller (4000, 4600, etc), use Raven null modem P/N 115-0171-395.

Why isn't my prescription showing up in the AFS display?

There are multiple reasons why the prescription may not show in your AFS display.
- First, verify that you only have one (1) "*.cn1" folder on the data card. The AFS display will only read a single *.cn1 folder. When you export a prescription from the desktop software, make sure to backup the existing *.cn1 folder that is on the data card, and then delete the existing *.cn1 folder from the data card before placing the new *.cn1 folder onto the data card.
- Next, verify that there are not duplicate Grower/Farm/Field names in the AFS Pro 700 display. The prescription is only stored under a single Grower/Farm/Field. Go to Home > Performace > Profile and touch in the Grower box. If there are multiple Growers with the same name, try selecting each individualy to see if the prescription shows under any of them.
- The prescription must match the product form of your controller. For example, when using a prescription for planting, the prescription must be exported as a planting prescription, or when using a prescription for liquid application, the prescription must be exported as a liquid or spraying prescription. If the prescription form and the controller form are not the same, the prescription will not be available for use.
- Check that your Work Condition setup is correct. Go to Home > Work Condition > Layer. Make sure that the correct controller is assigned to a layer and a product is assigned to the same layer. Also make sure that there are no errors (an ERR button above the product or layer box).

How to I output GPS from my AFS display to another system?

The recommended way to output GPS is through the NAV-II controller. A power/data cable will be required and is available from your dealer (P/N 380002422). This cable will plug into the diagnostic connector located on the NAV-II harness. The other end of the cable will be connected to the system you are sending GPS to. Once connected, configure the needed NMEA strings by going to Home > Toolbox > NAV and using the NMEA Output Setup and NMEA Message Setup buttons in the AFS display. The settings will be dependant on what device you are connecting to and can be obtained from the device manufacturer.

I have an ISO implement that I am running with my display. If I want to use a prescription for variable rate application, what format should I write it in?

To use a prescription with an ISO implement, the prescription will need to be written in ISOXML format. A TASKDATA folder must be placed on the data card along with your existing *.cn1 folder.

I am getting error “AG-060 Cannot engage Automatic” when I attempt to engage AccuGuide on my combine. How can I fix this?

AccuGuide is not enabled. Ensure the “AccuGuide enable switch” or “AccuGuide master switch” is in the enabled position.

What happened to the distance calibration on my combine? Where do I find it?

Beginning with version 27 software for Axial Flow combines, the distance calibration is called "Tire Radius." You can find it from the home screen by selecting the "Calibrations" page, then select the "Calibr" tab at the bottom of the screen. From the dropdown menu, select "Tire Radius."

How do I delete my data?

Prior to deleting any data from your display, make sure that any data you want to keep has been backed up on another device. To delete data from your AFS display, go to Home > Data Management > Delete. Select the data type you would like to delete from the dropdown menu. Next, select the specific data you would like to delete from the additional drop down menus. For example, choosing "Grower" will delete all data stored under that grower (farms, fields, prescriptions, guidance lines, etc.). Once the you have made the desired selection, press the Delete button and confirm that you want to delete the data. *Note: if you have your data card in your display when deleting data, it will remove the data from both the data card and the display. If you do not have the data card in the display when deleting data, the data will only be deleted from the display.

How do I import my Growers, Farms, and Fields into my AFS display?

If a removable memory device was used in the display to collect data, then the growers, farms, and fields will automatically import into the display on their own once the memory device is inserted into the display.

I'm getting a "Memory Device Not Detected" error

Insert a memory device into the display. If a memory device is inserted into the display, and this error still occurs, remove the memory device and reformat it on your desktop computer. To do this, insert the card into the computer, or external card reader, and go to My Computer. Find the memory device, right click, select format, and select Fat 32.

Is a data card needed during operation with any CNH display or can I just get the data after the season is over?

Mapping data is only stored when the data card is inserted and recognized by the display. If the data card is not in the display during operation no maps will be recorded.

Calibrations need to be performed at the beginning of a season or when there is a changed in the operational conditions.

I have an ISO implement that is capable of section control, but section control will not work.

With an ISO implement, ISO Task Controller is required for section control, variable rate control (with prescriptions), and mapping.

Why will my prescriptions not import into my display while running Task Controller?

Make sure the prescriptions are in the .xml format and exported to the USB with the .cn1 folder. If the .xml file is not present, the display will not read the prescription for Task Controller

The Task Controller screens override the performance > profile screens. When running task controller, the changes must be made in the task controller windows.

What cables do I need to connect an FM1000 to a Pro 700?

ZTN67091 (port replicator) & ZTN59043 (null modem cable). ZTN67091 is a port replicator that will plug into the back of the FM 1000. From there, the ZTN59043 will plug into the 67091 and into the Pro 700. ZTN59043 is a null modem cable.

The rear offset is configured through the Virtual Terminal. Select "Setup" from the main VT screen, then arrow down twice and select PF. Rear offset is displayed as "Tool Rear Offset". Keep in mind to enter a positive number here as it is asking for the rear offset.

Whenever I use AccuControl to apply anhydrous, the toolbar is over-applying. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

The target rate and applied rate are for actual nitrogen. When using NH3, 82% is actually nitrogen. This means that if the target rate is entered as 180 lbs, the applied rate will be 180 lbs of actual nitrogen, but 220 lbs of total NH3 will be applied. To calculate the total NH3 from the actual nitrogen, multiply the actual nitrogen value by 1.22. To calculate the actual nitrogen from the total NH3, multiply the total NH3 value by 0.82.

My Cotton Picker Yield sensor is reading yield even when not operating or not reading a value when there is flow. How can I troubleshoot this?

- 1. Go to Cal > Sensor: Raw Flow should be changing when there is crop in the unit and at or near zero when there is no flow
- 2. If Raw Flow IS reading when there is NOT flow: Increase the sensor sensitivity value
- 3. If Raw Flow is NOT reading when there IS flow: decrease the sensor sensitivity value
- 4. Complete steps 2 and 3 for each sensor

How do I know what features are activated in my display?

Go to Toolbox > Activate. This screen lists all activations currently installed on the display. It will not include receiver activations. This is also the screen where purchased activation codes are entered.

Go to Toolbox > GPS. Page down to the “Activation” box. This is where GPS receiver activations are entered. This feature is available in displays with version 28 and higher software installed.

My moisture value isn’t changing on my screen even though I am in changing moisture conditions. What can I check?

With the key off:
- Check the fuse for the moisture bypass unit.
- Remove the two pins at the bottom of the bypass auger to check that the auger is not plugged.
- Contact your dealer for additional help if needed.

There are five main things that are considered when the display calculates Dry Bushels Per Acre Yield.

My Moisture is reading constant and is the same as my Manual Moisture Setting in Calibrations Crop.

If your moisture in the display is reading the same as the manual moisture setting in calibrations crop, it is because the moisture sensor is in manual mode.
- 1. Go to Toolbox > Layout and add Moisture Mode to a run Screen.
- 2. With Moisture Mode you can turn Manual Moisture to Auto Mode.
Moisture will be in Set to Manual Mode when the moisture sensor detects a invalid reading, a moisture sensor fault is detected, or if the operator turns manual moisture mode on.
On V28.8 Yield software and after, the display will identify in the Status and Warning Icon area a Man Moisture Icon to signify that the moisture sensor detects an invalid reading.
This is often seen when keying on the machine at the beginning of operation until crop enters the Moisture Bypass Assembly.
How do I change what I see on my run screens in my Pro300, Pro600, or Pro700 display?
The windows on the run screens are referred to as User Defined Windows.
You can create your own layout by going to Toolbox > Layout.
Create a new layout (recommend using operator's name).
The run screens 1-6 can be set up by selecting a window and scrolling through the list to select the intended window to be viewed.
My acreage is off for my harvested field. How do I correct this?
Often the Acreage shown as harvested is not the same as what was planted or what the known field size is.
It is recommended to do a Distance Calibration or Tire Radius (Found in Calibrations > Calibrate), to correct the wheel speed sensor for the tires installed on the Combine.
Several in season factors can attribute to the acreage being a mismatch after a field is finished.
The measured area for the harvested field can be corrected by going to Calibrations Area tab. There you can select the Grower, Farm and Field and correct the actual acres harvested to what is recorded.
I'm not sure what version my NAV II or GPS Reciever software is on. Where can I check this?
Go to Diagnostics > CAN tab. This tab will list every controller on the vehicle, and controller information includes what software version each one is on.
The controller name for the NAV II is 'NAV II' and for the GPS Reciever is 'GPS'.
The version listed next to 'Software Version' is the software version installed in the controller.
If the controller is coming up as 'Not Detected', contact your dealer for further troubleshooting.
What size removable memory device should I use in my display?
It is recommended to use the 4GB removable memory device available through your Case IH dealer. Do not use a removable memory device larger than 4GB in the display.
I would like to record an as-applied map for a product not controlled by my display. How can I set this up?
- 1. Go to Toolbox>Manual and create a ManApp. The implement section widths, forward offset, and right offset will need to be entered.
- 2. Go to Toolbox>Product and create a product.
- 3. Go to Work Condition>Layer and create a work condition. Assign the ManApp and product to a layer.
- 4. When using Large Tractor or Medium Tractor software go to Toolbox > Implement and configure the implement to Hitch (if it is a hitch implement) or EHR#. NOTE: IF THE IMPLEMENT NEEDS VARIABLE DEPTHS, DO NOT USE THE EHR THAT IS CONTROLLING THE DEPTH OF THE IMPLEMENT
- 5. To trigger coverage mapping when an EHR is selected, push the selected EHR to the detent. When the EHR is detented, the work arrow should change from pointing up to pointing down. If all other conditions for the unit to be in work are met, the down arrow will be green. When a hitch implement is selected the work state arrow will change when the 3-point hitch is raised and lowered.
- 6. To turn off coverage mapping when an EHR implement is selected, pull the EHR back until it detents again. The work arrow will change from pointing down to pointing up, and from green to grey
Why is my work arrow not changing when I am running my 500T with Task Controller?
The work state arrow in the Status and Warning Icon area needs to have three conditions met to change
- 1. The implement must be lowered.
- 2. You must be moving.
- 3. The meters must be turning.
If any of the three conditions are not being met, contact your dealer for service.
How do I calibrate guidance in my 2016 (or newer) Steiger?
For model year 2016, Steigers are now sold with Advanced steering technology. The only calibration required is the roll angle calibration.
What is the highest version software I can use for my 1200 series Early Riser planter?
For 1200 series Early Riser planter models (or any planter with MIU or MCC controllers), version 27 software is the highest that can be used. If you have a newer version please contact your dealer.
Controller types for your planter can be seen in the Diagnostics menu on the CAN tab.
Can I use my AFS Pro 700 for soil sampling?
The Pro 700 does not support soil sampling features. The workaround for this is when scouting with the display, mark an obstacle or a rock at the sample locations. These field marks will then come through in the desktop software.
This also works creating obstacles or features in the Desktop Software and exporting to the display to show where to dig.
Can I rename my run screens?
In the Toolbox > Layout screen where User Defined Windows are selected, there is a new selection called "Run Tab Name". Tap on this window to access the pop-up keyboard. Names should be kept to 8 characters or less to display properly on the run screens.
Note: This feature is available with Framework 30.4.0.0 or higher.
Does the Pro 700 save data to the internal memory of the display?
The AFS Pro 700 display does not save all data to the internal memory. To save mapping data, a USB memory device must be installed in the display during operation. Examples of mapping data include: combine mapping (yield and moisture), as-applied mapping (seed, fertilizer, herbicide, etc.), vehicle data mapping (fuel used, engine load, slip, etc.). If operating without a USB, mapping data will be shown on the display, but when the display is shut down, it will not be saved. There is no way to recover this data.
How do I find GPS coordinates for my A & B points?
Place the "Swath Select" window on a run screen. Tap on Swath Select and it will bring up a Swath Select menu. Once in the menu, select "Info"
Info will display the following:
- swath name
- recorded date
- type
- DGPS correction
- Heading
- A point coordinates
- B point coordinates
Note: this feature is available in autoguidance software version 30.4.0.0 and after.
Is a USB stick included with the purchase of new equipment?
Combines are the only units that ship from the factory with a Case IH approved USB stick. The USB stick is found in the plastic pouch with the combine operator's manuals.
Contact your dealer to purchase the recommended USB stick.
My yield data is no longer visible on my display.
The display contains a feature called "Season Setup Date". Once the "season setup date" passes, data prior to that date will be archived and not visible on the display.
Data prior to the season setup date can be viewed in the desktop software.
Can I use AFS Connect for NTRIP on my Case IH vehicle that has a Trimble display?
Yes, AFS Connect can be used. An NTRIP subscription is required. Contact your dealer to purchase.
A cellular RTK subscription must be purchased separately.
NTRIP connectivity is achieved by entering the NTRIP server details using a Case IH AFS Pro 700 monitor. Once the modem is configured it will stay configured.
Can I have planting prescriptions for 2 different products with my Case IH Early Riser Planter in a "split planter" configuration?
Yes. Create separate prescriptions for both products and then load them into the display. Make sure the prescriptions are exported as a planting prescriptions.
In the display:
- 1. Navigate to Toolbox > Product and verify both products are created and set up properly
- 2. Navigate to Work Condition > Operate and verify that the "Planter Control" is set to "Per Side" to allow "split planter" operation
- 3. Navigate to Work Condition > Layer, assign one layer as "Seed Left" and the other as "Seed Right" and assign each product to the appropriate layer
- 4. Navigate to the Performance>Rx Setup screen and select the appropriate planting prescriptions
Note: to ensure prescription comes across properly, ensure it is written in the corresponding product form to the products that were created in the display.
When I use AccuControl to apply liquid fertilzer, it seems that I cannot get the rate dialed in. I used the meter cal value on the Raven flow meter but I seem to be under-applying.
Raven flow meter calibrations (CAL) are expressed in Pulses per 10 gallons. Case IH displays express meter cals in Pulses per 1 gallon so the value needs to be converted.
Raven CAL = 1200
1200 = 1200 pulses/10 gallons
To get the Raven calibration converted to a value acceptable to the Pro 700 we need to divide by 10.
For example:
1200 pulses/10 = 120 pulses
Enter 120 as the CAL value in the Pro 700
Is it possible to transfer my unlocks from my old display to new?
Unlocks that can be transferred are:
- Task Controller
- AccuStat
- RowGuide
Unlocks can be transferred to and from the following displays:
- Pro 600 to Pro 700
- Pro 300 to Pro 700
- Pro 700 to Pro 700
Contact your local dealer for more details.
Why don't I have a work state arrow?
First, verify there is a layer assigned in Work Condition > Layer. If no layer can be assigned, create a Manual Application Channel. (Search FAQ page for procedure).
Next, in Toolbox > Implement, set the implement type to "Hitch" (if equipped). Cycle the hitch down and up and see if the work state arrow appears.
If the work state arrow appears then change back to EHR implement. Cycle the configured EHR paddle forward to detent, then back to detent. It is crucial to detent valve.
Also note the tractor is running task controller, AccuControl (with the implement switch turned on), or a CNH planter, these will always override the EHR's.
If the work state arrow still does not appear, the tractor may need a software update. Please contact your dealer.
I have All-Makes guidance on my tractor, can I add harnessing to connect an implement?
Yes, for pricing and availability, please contact your dealer. When contacting your dealer have your All-Makes harness number available. This can be located roughtly six inches from the display connector.
How do I email my .cn1/AgGPS folder to AFS Support?
- 1. Power the display OFF with the memory device installed.
- 2. Remove the memory device from the display.
- 3. Take the memory device from the display to a computer.
If a window does not launch when the memory device is installed, then click the "Start" button on the Windows task bar and select "My computer" from the pop-up menu.
- 4. Select the drive that corresponds to the memory device drive location – for example, “Removable Disk (E:).”
- 5. Right click on the folder that ends with .cn1 to access a pop-up menu.
- 6. Click "Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder" or compress the folder with a third party application such as 7-zip or Winzip. Note the location of the .zip file for the next step.
- 7. If required, transfer the .zip file to a computer that has access to email.
- 8. Attach the .zip file to an email message.
How many swaths can the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 store at one time?
When loaded with version 25.* Autoguidance software or higher, the display can store up to 2000 individual swaths at any one time.
These swaths may be any combination of Heading, Straight, Circle, Curve, Spiral, Field Swath, or MultiSwath+ patterns*. Once this limit is reached, swaths must be deleted from the display (DATA MANAGEMENT > DELETE) before additional swaths can be created.
*MultiSwath+ swath sets are only stored on the USB stick, and are available for use in the display only when the USB stick is installed.
Can the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 be connected to an existing serial rate control system?
Yes. The AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700 displays may be connected to the following serial rate controllers: Hardi 5500; Raven 100 & 1000 series, Rawson AccuRate, Flexicoil FlexControl II. When connected to a serial rate controller listed above, the Case IH display provides variable-rate and mapping functionality. When connected to a Rawson AccuRate and/or Hardi 5500 controller, the Case IH displays can also perform automatic section control. (A JobCom box required for automatic section control with the Hardi 5500 controller.) Contact your local Case IH dealer for more information on cabling, setup, and operation of the 3rd-party control interface.
Can a hydraulic remote be used to control acre-counting and data-recording in the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700?
Yes, Large Tractor software version 21.2 (and higher) enables data-logging and area-counting to be controlled via the primary hydraulic valve (EHR1).
In AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 Large Tractor software versions prior to v21.2, data-recording and area-counting were be controlled via the three-point hitch (3PH). v21.2 continues this function and adds control via the primary electrohydraulic remote (EHR1).
In the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 display, the operator uses the Implement Type window on the Toolbox > Implement screen to select the appropriate Work Control option for the current implement.
If "EHR 1 Implement" is selected, the implement is considered to be "working" when the primary remote valve is retracted or in float, and the implement is considered to be "not working" when the primary remote valve is extended.
If "Hitch Implement" is selected, the implement is considered to be "working" when the hitch is lowered, and "not working" when the hitch is raised, based on the Implement Working Depth set in the Work Condition > Hitch Notebook screen.
NOTE: Updates to the Large Tractor display software may require updates to the software installed in other tractor controllers, to ensure that all features are available.
Is there a generic installation harness to use when installing an AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 in a competitive vehicle?
Yes. The part number for this harness is 84169716.
This harness provides power and ground to the display. It also serves as a serial port breakout harness and provides a data ground for the RS232B serial connection, along with a connection for CAN-based GPS. Finally, it provides a diagnostic connector for use with your dealer's laptop service software. This harness is intended for use in generic installations including competitive vehicles and utility vehicles.
When selecting the Units of Measure to be used in the AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700 (Toolbox > Operator Setup), what is the difference between "Imperial" and "USA"?
"USA" displays standard "English" units of measure (acres, gallons, pints, quarts, bushels, pounds, ounces, tons, etc.)
"Imperial" is very similar to "USA", except that an Imperial Gallon contains 5 quarts, rather than a "USA Gallon", which contains 4 quarts.
"Metric" displays standard metric units of measure (hectares, liters, milliliters, kilograms, grams, metric tonnes, etc.)
Note that when "Metric" is selected, user-defined windows (Run screen windows) displaying any bushel-related values ("Bushels, Dry", "Bushels, Wet", "Flow, Dry bu", etc) are not available, as the "bushel" is not a valid unit of measure in the Metric system of measurement.
I have an offset header installed on my combine. What should I put in as my Header Center Offset in the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 display?
Header Center Offset is used for calculating autoguidance swaths and accurately mapping harvested regions. It is critical that this value be accurately entered in the combine display.
The Header Center Offset is determined by measuring the horizontal distance (parallel to the long axis of the front axle) between the GPS receiver and the center of the header.
If the center of the header is to the LEFT of the GPS receiver, the Header Center Offset will be a negative value. If the center of the header is to the RIGHT of the GPS receiver, the Header Center Offset will be a positive value. All directions are referenced while facing the normal direction of travel.
What is the difference between Basic and Advanced interface levels in the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700?
The AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700 offer two user-selectable interface levels. The interface level can be changed by going to Toolbox > Display Setup.
The "Basic" Interface Level is intended for operators who require only basic machine-control functionality, and is NOT recommended for operators needing precision farming capabilities. Basic mode disables several display features, including reading and writing to the external datacard or USB flash drive, mapping, prescription rate control, MultiSwath+, ISOBUS Task Controller, automatic section control, advanced yield monitor calibration, and advanced Product attribute setup.
The "Advanced" Interface Level is recommended for the majority of operators. Advanced mode enables all activated features in the display, and permits data to be recorded to the external datacard or USB flash drive.
How many characters are available when naming Growers, Farms, Field, or other items in the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700?
All user-entered names in the display may consist of up to 18 characters.
Any combination of upper-case, lower-case, numbers, or special characters may be used.
If names longer than 18 characters are exported from the desktop software, the names will be truncated when imported into the display.
In the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700, can I create Tasks ahead of time (before I actually need to use them)?
Case IH recommends that you create Tasks as needed, rather than creating a large number of Tasks at once for future use.
Empty (unused) Tasks will become locked and unusable when you archive your data (download data to your desktop software)
I have a Case IH AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 display. I want to clear last year's data from my monitor and card. How do I do this?
First, ensure that you have created a backup of all data, as there is no way to recover data after it has been deleted. Then follow the steps below.
- 1. Delete the *.CN1 folder from the data card or USB stick using your personal computer.
- 2. Power up the display without the data card installed, and go to Data Management > Delete.
- 3. Select Data Type "Task", then select Operation "All", Grower "All", Farm "All", Field "All", and Task "All".
- 4. Push the "Delete" button. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the selected data. Press YES to confirm or NO to exit without deleting any data.
- 5. Turn the power off to the display and allow it to power down completely.
You can now insert the blank data card or USB stick into the display. Your Grower, Farm, and Field names remain in the display, but all of your previous years' data will be deleted.
If you want to delete ALL data, including setup values such as Grower, Farm, and Field names, choose Data Type "Grower" in Step 3. You can then export setup information to the display from the desktop software, or copy setup information from another AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700.
What is the file format used by the Case IH AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 display?
The primary file format used by all Case IH color displays is called "Voyager 2". This file format is used for all Case IH proprietary systems, including 1200 planters, factory yield monitors, AFS AccuControl, AFS AccuGuide, 3rd-party serial rate control, performance logging, and other related functions.
This file format creates a folder on the datacard or USB flash drive, with datestamped name ending in ".CN1". Inside this folder are a number of other folders, along with a file named "index.vy1". Some desktop software application will require you to choose the index.vy1 file when you import your data into the software.
When using the ISOBUS Task Controller (software v28 and higher), the AFS Pro 700 uses the industry-standard ISOXML file format for all data related to the Task Controller (prescription rate control, application rate logging, etc.) Data not related to the Task Controller continues to be logged in the Voyager2 file format.
Effective with Precision Farming v30.6 and higher, the AFS Pro 700 is also compatible with standard Esri Shapefiles, for importing selected data. Contact your local Case IH dealer for details.
Can setup information (Growers, Farms, and Fields) be transferred from one Case IH color display to another?
Yes! Most management items (Growers, Farms, Fields, Operators, Containers, Products, Field Marks, Boundaries, Obstacles, and Swaths) can be transferred from one display to another via the datacard or USB flash drive.
This will happen automatically when the target display is powered up with the datacard or USB flash drive from the originating vehicle installed. Note that Tasks are vehicle specific and cannot be transferred.
Growers, Farms, Fields, and Swaths can also be exported to the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 from the Case IH AFS desktop software.
What CompactFlash card or USB flash drive brand should I use, and what capacities can I use?
Datacard or USB flash drive capacity must be from 32 MB to 4GB. CompactFlash card and adapter kits, and USB flash drives, are available through your local Case IH dealer.
- The part number for a 512 MB card and adapter is 84396507.
- The part number for a 4GB card and adapter is 84322404.
- The part number for a 4GB USB flash drive is 84398440. This is the only supported flash drive for use in the AFS Pro 700.
If you purchase a datacard or USB flash drive from Case IH, it will be formatted correctly for use in your AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700. If you purchase a card from another retailer, verify that it is formatted as "FAT" (also called "FAT16") or FAT32.
What cable is needed to export GPS from a 162/252/262/372 GPS receiver to a 3rd-party device?
There is a need for multiple GPS outputs from the 162, 252, 262, and 372 GPS receivers.
This is especially common when exporting GPS to a secondary control or logging system on an AccuGuide-equipped vehicle. This condition is found most often on tractors running AFS AccuGuide autoguidance and pulling a planter that runs row clutches via a second control system (not via the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700).
Use CNH part number ZTN55224 to export GPS signals from a 162, 252, 262, or 372 receiver to a 3rd-party device. This cable is designed to allow Port C to be utilized when Ports A and B are already in use (for example, when using RTK and the Joey radio). If Port A or Port B is unused, you may use cable 87298129 instead of ZTN55224.
On vehicles equipped with AFS AccuGuide, it is also possible to export a corrected GPS position directly from the NavII or NavIII controller to a 3rd-party device. Use cable 87298129, or, if the cable is completely inside the cab, use 380002422. Configure the GPS export via the Toolbox > NAV screen in the AFS Pro 700.

How do I need to configure my receiver's serial port to communicate with the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700?
The AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700 require incoming GPS in the following format:
- Communication protocol: NMEA
- Baud rate: 4800 - 38400bps (38400 is preferred)
- Data bits: 8
- Parity: None
- Stop bits: 1
- Hertz rate 1 hz or 5 hz
- NMEA strings: Only GGA is required. GSV can be used to enable the constellation map in Diagnostics > GPS2.
On the AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700, there are 4 Connection Type options on the Toolbox > GPS screen. Which one should I use?
CAN-A: Used with AFS AccuGuide systems on most Case IH tractors, Patriot sprayers, and Titan floaters
CAN-B: Used with AFS AccuGuide systems on most Case IH combines.
RS232A: Use if connecting any GPS receiver to the flat 5-pin connection on a 2100/2300/2500 series combine or universal tractor/planter harness. This setting is also used when connecting a serial receiver to the 10-pin connector on an 88 Series or 10/20/130/140/230/240 Series combine.
RS232B: Use if connecting any GPS receiver to the DE-9 connector on the bottom of the AFS Pro 600 or the back of the AFS Pro 700. IMPORTANT: This connector does not provide a ground for the data signal. If you experience difficulty establishing communication via the RS232B connection, contact your local Case IH dealer.
Do I need to complete my yield monitor calibrations any specific order?
Yes. All Case IH AFS yield monitors should be calibrated in the following order:
- 1. Maximum Working Height (called Header Stop Height in some older Case IH displays). Note that this calibration must be completed for each Crop Type. Failure to properly calibrate Maximum Working Height may result in unexpected data recording behavior.
- 2. Distance Calibration (called Tire Radius Calibration on some Case IH combines)
- 3. Moisture Calibration
- 4. Weight (Yield) Calibration
- 5. Area Calibration (optional, and can only be performed after harvest in a field is complete)
I am going to calibrate my yield monitor and I remember from a clinic that there were several tips to successful calibrations. Can you tell me what those are?
There are a number of tips that can improve the accuracy of your yield monitor calibrations.
- Maximum Working Height (Header Stop Height): Must be set for each Crop Type. It is best to do this with the appropriate header installed on the machine.
- Distance Calibration (Tire Radius Calibration): A minimum travel distance of 200' is required. However, Case IH recommends a travel distance of 400'. All distances should be measured with a tape, rather than a wheel. The Distance Calibration or Tire Radius Calibration should be performed in field conditions, with the header installed, proper tire pressure, and approximately half a tank of grain.
- Moisture Calibration: Moisture Calibration must be performed for each Crop Type. Case IH recommends using the Moisture Calibration Wizard. Ensure that the grain tank is empty before beginning harvest. Continue harvesting until the "Instant Moisture" and "Average Moisture" readings for the Task are very close. Take 4-5 hand samples from the load and measure the actual moisture of each with an accurate, calibrated tester. Take an average of all the samples and enter this into the display as the "actual" moisture. Select no more than 3 Tasks for use in the Moisture Calibration, and ensure that the %Error for all of the selected Tasks are closely grouped.
- Grain Weight Calibration (Yield Calibration): The grain weight calibration must be performed for each Crop Type. Case IH recommends using the Moisture Calibration Wizard. Ensure that the grain tank is empty before beginning harvest. Select a target weight between 3000 and 10000 pounds, and ensure that each Task is within 5% of this target weight. Each Task must be harvested at a consistent flow rate, but flow rate should be varied among different Tasks. For example, cut 6 Tasks, with 2 at Low Flow, 2 at Medium Flow, and 2 at High Flow. To modify flow rate, adjust ground speed or your working width. Do not unload on the go during a grain weight calibration! Once you have completed 4 or more calibration loads, pick at least 4 loads with different flow rates and consistent %Error. By default, new calibrations only apply to the current harvest Task and future harvest Tasks. Previous data can be updated in Data Management > Apply.
It says in my operator's manual that I shouldn't use loads with greater than 10% error when calibrating my grain weight on my yield monitor. All of my loads are over 10% error, what should I do?
First, you need to verify that there is nothing mechanically wrong with your yield monitoring system.
Common sources of error include moisture in connectors (often as a result of pressure-washing the vehicle), damaged wiring harnesses), and a deflector plate clearance (if required) that is not within spec. Contact your Case IH dealer for assistance identifying these or other issues that might be to blame.
If you find that there is no mechanical issue with the machine and ALL of your grain weight calibration loads are consistently over 10% (but with similar error %), then it is usually safe to go ahead and calibrate with those loads. An example: You have 6 grain weight calibration loads at varying levels of crop flow. Your errors range from 12% - 13.8%. Select all 6 loads and calibrate. Since the error is consistent, this set of loads should produce acceptable calibration results.
My AFS Yield Monitor operator's manual says that I should use loads larger than 3,000 pounds for my grain weight calibrations on my yield monitor. Is it o.k. for me to use a semi-trailer for calibration loads?
Yes. Just remember that you will need to complete loads (Tasks) at different flow rates and in some Crop Types is will take a long time to fill a semi trailer on low flow.
Also, remember that if you use a semi trailer for 1 load, you need to use it for all your grain weight calibration loads, as the weights of each calibration load must be within a 5% range. The recommended weight for calibration loads is 10,000lbs.
There always seems to be so much going on the first few days of harvest. Do I have to calibrate my yield monitor on the first day?
No. You can calibrate your yield monitor at any time during harvest.
To apply current calibrations to previously harvested data in an AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700, use the "Apply Cal Values" feature in Data Management > Apply.
What is the difference between Overlap Control and Boundary Control?
Overlap Control refers to the ability of the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 to automatically shut off seed drive motors or row clutches based on the position of a planter section relative to an already-applied area of the field. Overlap Control is based on the as-applied map created by the display. (This feature also applies to Patriot Sprayers and Titan Floaters equipped with the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 application control system.)
To enable Overlap Control, set the Overlap Control window to "On" in the Toolbox > Overlap Setup screen. Then set the desired Percent Overlap. The default value is 99%. This means that 99% of a section (hydraulically controlled or clutch controlled) must be overlapping a previously applied area before the section will turn off. A high percentage results in more overlap and very little skip; a lower percentage results in more skip and less overlap. The allowable range is 1% - 99%.
Overlap Control also requires that the Section Control Method, Start Early Distance, Stop Late Distance, Bar Distance, and Product Delay be set correctly. (see below)
Boundary Control refers to the ability of the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 to automatically shut off seed drive motors or row clutches based on the position of a planter section relative to an inner or outer boundary in a field. (This feature also applies to Patriot Sprayers and Titan Floaters equipped with the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 application control system.) Boundary Control is based on boundaries, and is not related to the as-applied map. To use Boundary Control, you must have existing Inner and/or Outer Boundaries for the current Field. Boundaries can be recorded in the AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700, or can be exported from a compatible desktop software application.
To enable Boundary Control, set the Boundary Control window to "Yes" in the Toolbox > Overlap Setup screen. Then set the desired Percent Out Of Bounds. The default value is 1%. This means that when 1% of a section is outside an Outer Boundary (or inside an Inner Boundary) the section will shut off. A low value will result in very little application outside the boundary. A higher value will result in more application outside the boundary, but will also make the system less susceptible to the effects of GPS drift. The allowable range is 1% to 99%.
Boundary Control operates independently of Overlap Control, and is not affected by Start Early Distance or Stop Late Distance.
How do I measure Bar Distance for a 1200/1205 Series AFS planter?
Bar Distance (Toolbox > Config) is the distance from the corrected GPS reference point on the vehicle to the seed drop point on the planter. It should be measured horizontally, on the ground, at the tractor centerline, with the planter in planting position.
The corrected GPS reference point will vary depending on the vehicle model and the GPS receiver offsets entered in the Toolbox > GPS Setup screen. Refer to your AFS Pro 600 or AFS Pro 700 Operator's Manual for Precision Farming and Framework Software for more information.
Why is Product Delay important?
Product Delay (Work Condition > Controller Setup) is the amount of time that elapses between the operator starting the product drives and the product actually hitting the ground. This measurement is extremely important because it provides ground speed compensation for the rate or section control system. As travel speeds increase, the accuracy and precision of the Product Delay becomes even more critical to proper performance.
What are Start Early Distance and Stop Late Distance?
Start Early Distance (previously called Lead Distance) is the distance used to start the planter when exiting an overlap area. This distance can be adjusted to ensure that the planter turns on at the appropriate time to prevent overlaps or skips when leaving a previously-planted area (such as a headland). If your planter is starting BEFORE leaving overlap, decrease the Start Early Distance by the distance between the start and the overlap. If your planter is starting AFTER leaving the overlap area, increase the Start Early Distance by the distance between the start and the overlap.
Stop Late Distance (previously called Lag Distance) is the distance used to stop the planter when entering an overlap area. This distance can be adjusted to ensure that the planter turns off at the appropriate time to prevent overlaps or skips when entering a previously-planted area (such as a headland). If your planter is stopping BEFORE entering the overlap area, increase the Stop Late Distance by the distance between the stop and the overlap. If your planter is stopping AFTER entering the overlap area, decrease the Stop Late Distance by the distance between the overlap and the stopping point.
The allowable range for Start Early and Stop Late Distance is 0ft to 25ft.
Start Early Distance and Stop Late Distance work in conjunction with Bar Distance (the distance from the GPS receiver reference point to the seed tube) and Product Delay (the elapsed time between the "plant" command from the display, and when seed actually hits the ground). Both Bar Distance and Product Delay must be set correctly to ensure that the Start Early and Stop Late Distance values work properly. Start Early and Stop Late distances should only be adjusted to fine-tune performance after configuring Bar Distance and Product Delay. If you feel that you need negative values for Start Early and/or Stop Late distances, you likely have errors in your Bar Distance and/or Product Delay.

Should I use Tasks, Tags, or Products to track my varieties in the AFS Pro 600 and AFS Pro 700?
Varieties should always be put in as Products.
These Products can then be assigned to map layers in Work Condition > Layer. This will ensure that variety information is recorded properly for analysis in the desktop software, and for use with the automatic Variety Tracking feature in Case IH combines.
If I am planting with prescriptions, should I put in a default population in the Toolbox > Product > Default Rate window?
Yes, always assign a Default Rate for the Product when defining a Product in the Product Setup screen (Toolbox > Product).
You should also assign the Min Rate, Max Rate, and Delta Rate for the Product. This will ensure that the Product setup is completed successfully.
When a prescription is exported from the desktop software, the software will ask the user for a default rate to be used when the vehicle leaves the prescription zone. If a default rate is not specified, the prescription will use a default rate of "0" for product application outside the prescription zone.
The Default Rate assigned in the Product Setup screen (Toolbox > Product) is only used during manual product application.
Where is my NAV II/III controller mounted?

What do my AccuControl Advanced Valve Cal Parameters Mean?
The three basic parameters that we tune with are Gain, Deadzone and Breakout
Gain: How aggressively the system will attempt to change rate
Deadzone: percentage away from target rate before flow is adjusted
Breakout: The initial amount of PWM/Servo voltage required to move the valve
There are also two types of Gain to adjust depending on the valve used:
PWM valves use the Integral Gain
Servo valves use the Proportional Gain
For specific values please contact your dealer with the brand, type, and diameter of the valve being used.
Do I need to recalibrate my yield monitor every year?
Case IH recommends that a full set of yield and moisture calibrations be performed every year. This will ensure that performance is not negatively affected by machine maintenance (new elevator chain or paddles, different flow sensor impact plate, etc.) or by crop characteristics (density, texture, etc.).
How do I delete old data from the display in preparation for harvest?
Data can be deleted using the Data Management > Delete screen. NOTE: Ensure that a backup copy of all data has been saved, if desired. Deleting data using the Data Management > Delete screen will delete data from the internal display memory as well as from the USB flash drive or data card.
If I delete yield data from a previous season, will my yield and moisture calibration values be reset to default?
No. Calibration values are stored independently from yield data, and are not affected when data is deleted. To reset calibration values to default, import Default values for the selected Crop Type on the Calibrations > Crop screen.
